Workplace Inspections (one off or regular)
Workplace inspections are a key method of monitoring compliance on the ground. They are used to monitor the fixed environment and observe working practices to ensure compliance with required processes, procedures / SSOW and / or relevant legislation.
Such inspections can include the whole workplace i.e. the whole site or be targeted to review specific subjects, areas, departments or operations of concern, the choice is yours.
Likewise the frequency is your choice, we suggest at least once or twice a year, however we recommend basing the frequency on the level of risk and number of issues found and reviewing this regularly so you achieve best value for money.
Surveillance or Compliance Audits
These are similar to the gap analysis audits in that they are used to monitor compliance levels of both the written word in policies and procedures against legislation and industry sector requirements as well as the implementation of these Company Policies and Procedures in the workplace.
These audits are a great way of
Internal Audits
Internal audits are generally used to monitor compliance with Company Management Systems across departments and operations within a business. Generally the requirement stem from an International or industry sector standard such as ISO9001, ISO14001, OHSAS18001, UFAS, CHAPS, etc.
Normally a company would have an audit timetable in place and cover the whole of the management system over a number of audits and record the findings on their internal paperwork or electronic systems.
Where a company does not have the time, resources, experience, or their auditors also manage the system, so have no impartiality, IM&SS can fulfil this role on a regular basis or for one off audits, to enable the company to meet the requirements.
Contractor & Supplier Audits
These audits are generally used as a way of monitoring your contractors and suppliers to ensure they are;
These audits can be site based where you review / monitor their paperwork / activities on your site, or at their operation/offices.
In either case the process can be a desktop exercise or as we would recommend also include a workplace or activity based element.
